TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran recitation session was held in Hakkari, a city in southeast Turkey, for pilgrims set to go to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.

The city’s Dar-ol-Ifta organized the program for the pilgrims at Hajj Saeed Mosque, HaerTurk.com reported.

A large number of the citizens also attended the Quranic event.

During the program, the participants also learned about different aspects of the Hajj pilgrimage.

This year, a total of 90,000 Muslims from Turkey are slated to make the spiritual journey.

Hajj is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city in Islam.

It is regarded as one of the pillars of Islam and the largest act of mass pilgrimage in the world.

The holy pilgrimage is also a demonstration of Muslims’ unity and their submission to Allah.

Every able-bodied Muslim is obliged to perform the pilgrimage at least once in his or her lifetime.
