Playing Naqqareh Ahead of Imam Reza’s (AS) Birth Anniversary
TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Naqqareh Zani ceremony was held at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, northeast Iran, ahead of the birth anniversary of the 8th Shia Imam.
The Naqqareh is a Middle Eastern drum with a rounded back and a hide head.
Playing Naqqareh is a ritual held at the holy mausoleum on festive occasions.
The 11th day of the lunar Hijri month of Dhu al-Qa’dah marks the birth anniversary of Imam Reza (AS).
The auspicious occasion falls on Tuesday, June 22, this year.
