TEHRAN (IQNA) – The first session of a course on Islam was held by the Iranian Cultural Center in Yerevan, Armenia.

Islamic Studies Course Begins in Yerevan

According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the Department of Iranian Studies at Yerevan State University has cooperated with the center in organizing the program.

A number of the university’s lecturers and students participated in the session.

Addressing the program, Dr Voskanian, the head of the department, noted that getting acquainted with Islamic issues is a necessary step in the field of Iranian studies.

Majid Moshki, the Iranian cultural attaché in Armenia, was another speaker at the session. He expressed hope that the course will lead to a better understanding of Islam and Islamic ideology.

"The structure of the Holy Quran and its status among Muslims” was the theme of the first session of the course.

Moshki also clarified the meaning of a Quranic Ayah (verse), Surah (chapter), Juz' (part), and how the Quran was revealed and compiled.

Mahdawiyyat (Mahdism) and Mary (the mother of Jesus) in view of the Holy Quran are the themes of the following sessions of the course, which includes 15 sessions.
