Four Doctors Killed in Kabul Car Bomb Blast
The doctors were heading to the Pul-e-Charkhi prison, located on the eastern outskirts of Kabul, which hosts hundreds of Taliban fighters, according to Kabul police spokesman Ferdaws Faramarz.
It was not immediately clear if the doctors were targeted in Tuesday’s attack.
The fifth person killed in the explosion is yet to be identified.
Two others were injured in the explosion, said Faramarz, Al Jazeera reported.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack which damaged nearby buildings and shops.
Attacks continue
The Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) group is said to be behind multiple attacks in Kabul in recent months.
Daesh also claimed responsibility for Saturday’s rocket attacks at a United States military base in Afghanistan.
There were no casualties in that assault, according to NATO and provincial officials.
On Monday, gunmen murdered Afghan journalist Rahmatullah Nekzad – the third reporter to be killed in two months – in the eastern city of Ghazni.
The previous day, a car bomb explosion in Kabul killed at least nine people and wounded more than 15.
Victims included politician Khan Mohammad Wardak, according to the Afghan Interior Ministry.
Violence in Afghanistan has spiked even as the Taliban and Afghan government negotiators hold talks in Qatar, trying to hammer out a peace deal that could put an end to decades of war.
