TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian Quran memorizer says no general advice can be given on a specific age for children for starting to memorize Quran.

Speaking to IQNA on Wednesday, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Ebrahim Hojjatpanah, a Quran memorizer living in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, says that if one’s home has a Quranic atmosphere, children will become interested in the Holy Book.

It is not possible to give advice on a specific age for starting to commit the Quran to the memory, he said.

“The memorization of the Quran relies on various criteria including an individual’s talent and capability in memorization; therefore, no unique prescription can be given for all.”

The parents and teachers are the ones that should determine when and how a child can start the memorization process and whether he/she is interested in the issue or not, noted Hojjatpanah.

Based on their capabilities, children can be encouraged to memorize the 30th Juze (Part), or short Surahs so that they can be equipped with a spiritual asset, added the expert.
