Hamza bin Ibrahim al-Salemi, head of the Quran Copies Department, said it was part of an initiative dubbed “One Mus’haf (copy of Quran) for Every Pilgrim”.
He said the department also inspected all copies of the Quran at the mosque to make sure that they have been approved by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran.
There are some 150,000 copies of the Holy Book at the Grand Mosque, the official added.
He said 100,000 Quran copies brought to the mosque by pilgrims and worshippers have been collected by the department since the beginning of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, the Saqya Zamzam, affiliated to the General Presidency for affairs of Two Holy Mosques, said it has distributed two million liters of Zamzam water among pilgrims and worshipers at the Grand Mosque in Mecca and Prophet’s Mosque in Medina during Ramadan.
