IQNA – An international conference is planned to be held in Tehran this weekend in solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip, who have been under relentless Israeli attacks for over three months.

Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari, speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Wednesday

Dubbed ‘Al-Aqsa Flood and Awakening of Human Conscience’, the conference will be attended by 200 Muslim scholars, figures and thinkers from 50 Muslim and non-Muslim countries.

This is according to Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari, speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Wednesday about the upcoming event.

It is aimed at clarifying the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation, which was launched by the Hamas resistance movement against Israel on October 7, and gathering Muslim world scholars to issue a statement against the Zionist regime, he stated.

He said in the current turning point in history, it is upon the Muslim world’s scholars and elites to bring the voice of the oppressed people of Palestine and the message of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation to the world.

He added that Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi will be the keynote speaker at the conference.

The WFPIST chief also noted that the forum has printed books and conducted interviews with more than 200 scholars in the Islamic world about the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari condemned the Zionist regime’s atrocities in the Gaza Strip and elsewhere in Palestine, saying that the Palestinian nation has been oppressed by a savage regime for over seven decades and they should be supported by the Islamic world’s elites.

He said Israeli-made goods must be boycotted and certain Muslim countries that have normalized relations with Israel should cut ties with this barbaric regime.

He also deplored the failure of the United Nations, UN Security Council and other international bodies to fulfil their responsibilities regarding the prevention of Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Israel has pounded the Palestinian enclave since the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation launched by the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement on Oct. 7.

The Israeli regime’s attacks have killed at least 23,357 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 59,410 others, according to health authorities.

About 85% of Gazans have been displaced, while all of the population is food insecure, according to the UN. Hundreds of thousands of people are living without shelter, and less than half of aid trucks are entering the territory than before the start of the conflict.
