IQNA – The secretary general of the Fatwa Authorities Worldwide (FAW) warned that there has been a rising trend of Islamophobia in the world.

Secretary General of the Fatwa Authorities Worldwide (FAW) Ibrahim Najm

Ibrahim Najm, who is also an advisor to the Mufti of Egypt, said the number of Islamophobic incidents have doubled recently, Egypt Today reported.

Islamophobia has encircled Muslims in the West and created a dangerous wave of discrimination and bias against them, he said.

He underlined the need for efforts to combat Islamophobia and dispel the distorted image of Islam in non-Muslim countries.

He said while terrorism has nothing to do with Islam, every act of terrorism in Western countries is wrongly attributed to the religion.

This should be countered and the true image of Islam should be spread in the world, he stated.
