Arrest Made in Holi Incident Involving Harassment of Muslim Family

IQNA – In Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, an individual was taken into custody and three others were detained on Sunday following an incident of harassment against a Muslim family during Holi celebrations.

 

The family was subjected to forcible colour application by the accused.

The police intervention was prompted by a video that went viral, showing a group of men aggressively applying colours and splashing water on a Muslim family who were travelling through the area on a motorbike.

The video footage shows the family resisting the men’s attempts to apply colours on them.

The men in the video were heard chanting “Jai Shri Ram” slogans. The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 20, in the Dhampur region of the city.

The man on the bike, accompanied by his wife and mother, was en route to a doctor’s appointment to procure medication when they were accosted by the Holi celebrants.

The individual arrested in connection with the incident has been identified as Anirudh, a resident of the Dhampur area. Police are currently searching for the other individuals seen in the video.
